Girls were also required to trained because strong women produce strong babies. But, in Athens, the military wasn't as important. They wrote on wax tablets with a stylus. For boys, at age eighteen years they were required to join the military for at least two years.

Greek homes were built to keep people cool during the blazing summer heat, and hold in the heat during the winter months. The gynaikon was a special room for only woman to work on their weavings and entertain guests. The andron was for men only, were they could entertain guests and business associates. Symposia, drinking parties were also held here. Bedrooms were only furnished and not lavishly decorated, instead o beds they slept on more couch like objects

Breakfast usually consisted of bread and wine as did lunch, but it also could included olives, figs, cheese, and dried fish. Dinner was vegetables, fruits, and fish. Beef was the main protien of the Greek diet, but because it was so expensive. Pork and beef were given to poor people afteer an animal was sacriiced they were given the meat.
Wine was always watered down, it was considered disgusting to just drink it, as well as milk. Milk was only to be used for making cheese. Bread was often useed as utensils because there weren't any. It could be used to scoop soup and even as a napkin, only to be thrown only the gound for the dogs, or to be picked up by the servants later. |
